Find international trainees

Find international trainees

Thousands of companies, both in the Netherlands and abroad, are offering our Dutch students an opportunity to do their work placement within their company. These companies are certified by ECABO. In case you are interested in employing and coaching Dutch students we can give you further information.

Also see the website workplacement. This website will support companies in finding the right Dutch trainee, preparing staff for an international work placement and by offering on-line guidance and assessment tools during the placement.

How do you find tomorrow's internationals?

Once your company is accredited, it will be included in the ECABO company index on our website. Dutch educational institutions can consult this index, when looking for accredited training companies abroad.

You are of course not obliged to accept every candidate. ECABO can also assist you in approaching suitable educational institutions.

Together with the school, you will determine the content and duration of the work placement, on a case by case basis. All stipulations will then be laid down in a written agreement.

In this way, foundations are laid for a work placement which offers advantages to both parties.

A Dutch trainee in your company?

Every MBO student is required to complete a period of training within a company. This may be a period of several months but could also be four days a week throughout the entire course. The intention is that the student performs within the company as normally as possible, albeit under the supervision of a company employee. In this way, the companies themselves can help to ensure that people subsequently joining the labour market are competent professionals.

Nowadays, increasing numbers of students are opting to complete their compulsory work placement abroad. In this way, they acquire international experience, can improve their linguistic skills and learn to extend their own boundaries, in several ways. Generally speaking, a foreign work placement of this kind lasts between one and four months, and is undertaken in the latter years of the course. It calls for above average motivation; although there are special funds available for foreign traineeships, the student him or herself is required to bear some of the additional costs.

Your company too can offer one or more of these highly motivated Dutch students a work placement in your business, if you become registered as an ‘international training company'.
