International projects

ECABO is involved in several international projects:

International projects

Ex-change

Within this programme, ECABO is involved in setting up projects for ICT student teams from several educational institutes in the Netherlands (secondary vocational education, higher vocational education and universities) to help establish basic ICT services in third world countries, currently in Kenya and Malawi. Accreditation of Prior Learning
Together with a group of partners from the European Vocational Training Association (EVTA), ECABO has developed a guide for assessors and the assessment process related to the Accreditation of Prior Learning. This guide is available in English and in French (pdf).

European Management Assistant

ECABO has participated in the Leonardo da Vinci project, EURO AST, involving 8 European countries. The main goals relate to a common professional profile and a common reference material for the profession of European Management Assistant. In 2010 and beyond ECABO will support pilots of this new programme European Assistant that are held at several VET Colleges (ROC’s) in the Netherlands, for example ROC van Amsterdam. ECABO will share and exchange knowledge gathered from the pilot(s) with other EURO AST partners. Website EURO AST

Mutual Learning Post Secondary VET

Cooperation between SBB and the ETF on Post-secondary Education - CROSS Multinational Programme
The European Training Foundation (ETF) has been spreading information about European Union policies on vocational education and training (VET) for many years and promoting discussion on its relevance in South Eastern Europe. Candidate and potential candidate countries are preparing to adopt EU processes. Network activities and bench marking are vital for these countries. Therefore, in 2010 the ETF has set up Communities of Practice (CoP) - autonomous networks of policy makers and professionals who share their knowledge and experience.
These CoP's are installed in order to share and discuss experiences and good examples of practice. The CoP's will meet each other frequently during 2 years. Countries involved are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Turkey.
In most of the countries participating, vocational education and training is not enough recognised by the labour market; social partners are starting to participate within the process of qualification development, but this is still in an initial phase.
SBB and Centres of Expertise, among which ECABO, will provide external expertise.

Career Tracking Systems (International study group)

In October 2011 ECABO joined an international study visit about ‘career tracking systems’ in Europe. The study visit took place in Budapest. The situation in Hungary is explained extensively. Representatives of ten countries have contributed to the subject. A link to the presentations and the final report you find here. More information can be given by Jan Nienhuis. INtheMC

INternationalisation and Mobility in the students Curricula - Leonardo da Vinci project
ECABO participates in this project initiated by Landstede Groep. The project aims at increasing the number of students successfully involved in internationalisation and mobility programmes, at training teachers and advising management involved in internationalisation and curriculum development. It is based on the latest Finnish national research outcomes (2009) that shaped the local educational systems towards the inclusion of internationalisation in school curricula.
The project INtheMC wants to transfer the outcomes of the Finnish research and will provide a ready-to-use methodology addressing teachers, students and management, all at the same time. Eight organizations out of seven countries participate: NL, ES, UK, LT, FR, PL and DE. The partners aim to activate a bigger group of teachers by sensibilizing them to the topics of internationalisation and mobility and the difficulties students encounter. Within the project, a step-by-step programme that leads to mobility will be created and disseminated. Start Autumn 2010, duration 2 years.

Barcelona Students: International Work Placement in North-east Spain

Within this project ECABO, together with a consortium of Dutch VET Centres of Expertise and VET Colleges (ROC’s), promotes the possibilities for work placements in the north-eastern Spanish region of Catalunya.
Set up as an ECABO pilot with a former ECABO advisor located in Barcelona, the “Barcelona Students” organization now has built up a network of host companies and offers guidance to Dutch students during their work placements in several branches as IT, Marketing, Secretarial and Administrative work, Trade, Care and Hospitality.
