Becoming an international work placement company

How do you become an international work placement company?

ECABO can support you in becoming an international work placement company. On behalf of the Dutch government, ECABO is responsible for the recognition of work placement companies for eight sectors: secretarial work, business administration, commercial work, logistics, ICT, legal work, information service provision and security.

In order to register, you can fill out the special registration form.

After registration there will be two options:

  • if your company is located close to the Netherlands, an ECABO consultant will arrange a personal visit to discuss the courses for which you wish and are also able to receive official recognition.
  • if the distance from the Netherlands is larger, you will receive an information package and a questionnaire for recognition.

Key requirements are that the students can cooperate as much as possible within your business, and receive internal supervision. The school at which the student receives theory teaching will generally also provide for distance supervision (by telephone or via e-mail).

As work placement company, you may also sometimes contribute to the evaluation of the practical results; this will depend on the individual school's policy.

In addition, ECABO will determine carefully together with you, how courses in the Netherlands tie in with the position(s) you wish to offer as a traineeship placement. This assessment relates not only to the individual jobs, but also to the correct level of training. ECABO is in a perfect position to carry out this assessment, thanks to its broad-based knowledge of international diploma comparison.

How do you find tomorrow's internationals?
Once your company is recognised, it will be included in the ECABO company register on our website. Dutch educational institutions can then consult the register, when looking for professional practice training placements abroad. You are of course not obliged to accept the candidate put forward for the position. ECABO can also assist you in approaching suitable educational institutions, yourself.

Together with the educational institution, you will determine the content and duration of the traineeship, on a case by case basis. All stipulations will then be laid down in a written agreement.

In this way, foundations are laid for a traineeship which offers advantages to both parties.
